Can YTB Bounce Back
YTB International reported their Third Quarter results in early December 2008. Although travel commissions were up from a year ago, YTB report nearly a 13% drop in referring travel agents.
YTB (Your Travel Business) had an increase in revenue for the quarter, but their net income fell considerably! 2.1 million in profits a year ago, to only $287,999 for the third quarter in 2008.
Adding the entire first nine months of '08, YTB is showing a loss of $3.4 million for the year. Compared to profits of $1.6 million just one year ago. Time will tell how YTB ended up the year 2008.
In previous years results, YTB has counted on growing revenues from attracting and selling services to the Referring Travel Agents (RTA's). Although this is still the case, the percentage is dropping.
Does this mean that RTA's are getting more productive, or is it due to the fact that the number of RTA's paying for the services, is declining? The RTA count through September 2008 is down to 114,614 compared to 131,802 a year ago.
